Good food, good music, beautiful weather and fun is the combination for Center City Association's "Downtown Sounds" on the city plaza. Downtown Sounds returns for the summer concert series beginning every June and continuing through August. Downtown Sounds is a free program designed to showcase downtown amenities and businesses in an entertaining and informal format. Downtown restaurants and local businesses sponsor Downtown Sounds each week to keep this event free and fun. A diverse entertainment schedule includes popular locals such as The Rich Carey Project, Larry Humphrey, Small Scale Epic and John Lippolis.
There's a good chance you'll see old friends, make some new ones, and find some quality food and homemade items while supporting your home town at the Springfield Farmer's Market. The Farmer's Market was resurrected by the Center City Association in 2004 and since then has grown to over 40 vendors and has recently attained its own non-profit status. The focus of the market has always been to provide a source of fresh, locally grown food for our community; assisting local farmers and consumers to establish a direct connection with one another; and supporting the development of a local food system in this area.
